Play Therapy
Children often express themselves through play before they have the words to describe their feelings. In play therapy, I create a safe, nurturing environment where your child can explore their emotions, experiences, and challenges using toys, art, and creative expression. Through this process, we work together to help your child develop emotional regulation, process difficult experiences, and build confidence and resilience, all while honoring their unique developmental stage.
I also meet separately with parents to share what their child and I are working on in therapy and to explore ways they can support their child’s growth at home. Together, we look at strategies to address challenging behaviors and ease the worries their child may be experiencing. I view parents as essential partners in the therapeutic process and value understanding what is happening at home and at school from their perspective.
Caregiver & Child Psychotherapy
For some families, working together with your child in session can help strengthen connection and foster understanding. Caregiver/child psychotherapy allows us to address challenges within the parent-child relationship, improve communication, and support co-regulation skills. This work creates opportunities for healing while enhancing your child’s sense of safety and trust, building a foundation for emotional growth within the secure base of your relationship.
Parent Consultation
Parenting can feel isolating, and it is natural to have questions about how best to support your child’s growth. I offer parent consultation to help you better understand your child’s needs and behaviors while supporting you in developing effective, compassionate strategies at home.
In parent consultation, I meet solely with parents. I do not meet individually with the child as part of this service. Sometimes parents seek consultation because they have different perspectives on what their child needs and wish to work together more cohesively. Other times, parents share similar views but are looking for a professional perspective on parenting approaches and ways to navigate challenges within their family system.
With an objective viewpoint, I help parents identify potential blind spots, better recognize and communicate their own feelings, and gain insight into their thoughts and reactions. This process can help parents feel more confident and aligned in their parenting, fostering a supportive environment for their child’s growth.Together, we can address concerns around emotional regulation, school issues, sibling relationships, and navigating neurodiversity while also holding space for your experience as a parent.
School Support
As a psychotherapist, I have extensive experience collaborating with schools to support children’s educational and emotional needs. I work closely with parents and school teams throughout the IEP and 504 Plan process to ensure each child receives the accommodations and support they need to thrive. When appropriate and helpful to the child, I am also available to conduct school observations to better understand their experience in the classroom and to inform recommendations that support their growth and success.
